The product line

What does the Forney shop fabricate?

Six product families, all formed from flat coil in one building. Open a family to see its profiles, gauges and the details we need before we can price it.

Metal Roof Panels

Snap-lock and mechanical-seam standing seam panels, plus corrugated and R-panel sheets for shops, barns and agricultural buildings.

Wall Panel Profiles

Seven AMP profiles, from the hidden-fastener AMP Wave 16-4 to the PBR wall panel, along with corrugated wall sheets for texture on a budget.

Aluminum Composite Panels

Rout-and-return ACM cassettes for dry-joint or wet-seal systems, usually on a 4 mm sheet, with a fire-rated mineral core when the building code calls for one.

Trim, Coping and Flashing

Parapet coping plus the flashing a building needs at its edges, wall tie-ins and penetrations, with each piece bent to your detail.

Gutters and Box Gutters

Half-round and custom gutter shapes, downspouts, and built-in or commercial box gutters with liners for parapet and eave drainage.

Commercial Panels and Edge Metal

Low-slope roof panels and the perimeter pieces that close them out, from gravel stop to fascia cladding, sized to the building you are bidding.

Working in a softer metal? The shop also turns sheet copper and zinc into standing seam, soldered pans, bay and turret roofs, and the gutters and flashings that go with them.

Who buys panels and trim from a sheet metal shop?

Mostly people who hang metal for a living. The rest are owners and designers with an installer already lined up who need the metal made right the first time.

  • Roofing contractors who want each panel run formed to length rather than lapping stock sheets on the roof.
  • General contractors and builders who would rather buy roof panels, wall panels and trim from one source on one schedule.
  • Architects and specifiers who need product data, spec sheets and color charts before a profile goes into the drawings.
  • Metal building and barndominium framers who work in PBR, R-panel and corrugated sheets and need trim to suit.
  • Owners with their own installer, who get the same straight answers and the same line-by-line quote as a contractor.

How does an order move from takeoff to finished parts?

Every order runs through the same six steps, whether it is a single porch roof or a full commercial package. The sequence puts questions on paper before any coil gets cut.

  1. You send the job. Plans, a takeoff, field dimensions or a cut list, along with the profile, gauge and color if you already know them.
  2. We read it for gaps. Missing lengths, a trim detail that does not match the elevations, or a pitch too flat for the chosen seam get flagged first.
  3. You get an itemized quote. Panels by run length and count, trim by profile and piece length, and each option on a line of its own.
  4. Paperwork goes out if the job needs it. A submittal package, profile data and shop drawings go to the architect or GC for approval.
  5. The shop forms the order. Coil runs through the roll former for panels and is sheared and folded on the brakes for trim, all in the color you approved.
  6. The parts leave the building. The ship date is confirmed with your order, and pickup at the shop or a drop at the site is arranged at the same time.

Contractors who order on a schedule can read how contractor orders work, from the first takeoff through submittals and release.

Which metals, gauges and finishes are standard here?

Our default for a painted steel roof is 24-gauge Galvalume under a Kynar 500 (PVDF) finish. Everything else in the table below is an option we quote when the job asks for it.

MaterialTypical specWhere it usually goes
Steel standing seam panels24-gauge Galvalume, Kynar 500 (PVDF)Homes, commercial roofs, accent walls
Value steel26-gauge with SMPShops, porches, outbuildings
Exposed-fastener sheets26 or 29 gauge is typicalAgricultural buildings, barns, shops
Coping and edge metal22-24 gauge steel or .040 aluminumParapets, gravel stop, fascia
ACMTwo aluminum skins on a core, 4 mm typicalStorefronts, canopies, column covers
Copper and zincSheet for seams and soldered pansBay roofs, turrets, accents, gutters

On Kynar 500, the paint or coil maker typically backs chalk and fade for 30 to 35 years. That coverage is the maker’s, not the shop’s, so ask for the maker’s terms when you choose a color. Our warranties page explains how finish coverage works, and color charts for the Kynar and SMP lines come with any quote.

What do roof panel materials cost?

Materials for a 24-gauge Kynar standing seam roof run $9 per square foot of roof. The 26-gauge SMP version runs $8 per square foot of roof, on the price list dated October 2026.

Those rates are for budgeting. Your quote swaps them for the exact lengths, piece counts and trim on your job. The pricing page explains what the rates include and how to use them on an early estimate.

Why order the panels and the trim from one shop?

Because the trim can be cut from the same coil as the panels. Gauge, paint system and color line up, so the drip edge does not read a shade off from the roof above it.

Profiles line up too. A counter-flashing or a coping cap is folded to the dimensions on your detail, not picked from a rack of near misses. When a field condition changes, the revised piece is drawn and bent right here in Forney.

For a roofing crew, one source means fewer supply runs and fewer pieces cut down on the roof. For an architect, it means the drawing that got approved and the metal that shows up came from the same people.

Will the shop prepare the paperwork a commercial bid needs?

Yes, on request. Commercial work usually needs them before a GC can release an order, so we build them from the approved plans.

  • Submittal packages covering panel profiles, gauges and finish data
  • Spec sheets for each roof and wall panel profile we roll
  • Shop drawings for trim, coping and panel layouts
  • Color charts for the Kynar 500 and SMP lines

Where do orders go from Forney?

Anywhere in Dallas-Fort Worth. The shop is in Kaufman County, about 20 miles east of downtown Dallas along US-80.

That puts east-side towns such as Rockwall, Mesquite, Terrell and Royse City close by, and job sites in Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Ellis and Johnson counties are quoted the same way. Pickup and delivery are both available, and there is no minimum order. The delivery area page lists the counties and towns.

Who runs the shop?

The owner has spent 26+ years in metal roofing and sheet metal. The about page tells how the company came to Forney and how the shop runs today.

Questions builders ask before ordering

Can I buy panels and trim if my own crew is doing the work?

Yes. Making panels and trim for the people who put them up is the whole job of the shop. Send the takeoff or the plans, and the quote comes back line by line for materials only.

What do you need from me to price an order?

Plans or a takeoff, the panel profile, the gauge, the color and the quantities, plus the ship-to address. Missing a few of those? Send what you have through the quote form and we will ask about the rest.

Are panels cut to my lengths or sold in stock sizes?

Cut to your lengths. Each panel is roll-formed to a run length from your takeoff, so the quote shows every length and how many of each. Shop-formed panels go out at lengths up to 40 feet for pickup or delivery, and longer runs can be formed on site, up to 200 feet.

When will my order be ready?

Fast. The exact date depends on the profile, the color and any drawings that need approval, and the shop confirms it in writing with your quote, before you commit to anything.

Can I pick up at the shop, or do you bring it to the site?

Both are available. Pick up at 107 Industrial Dr in Forney or have the order delivered to the job site; the quote states which one you chose.

Which gauge is right for a standing seam roof?

For most painted steel roofs the shop standard is 24-gauge Galvalume with a Kynar 500 finish. A 26-gauge panel with SMP paint is the budget choice, and 26- or 29-gauge exposed-fastener sheets are typical on agricultural and shop buildings.

Do you prepare paperwork for commercial bids?

Yes, on request. Submittal packages, spec sheets, shop drawings and color charts are prepared for the architect or general contractor. The contractor ordering page walks through each one.

Have a job ready to price?

Send the takeoff, the plans or a cut list. The shop answers with questions or with an itemized quote.
